Dear Dr Bob,
I wonder if Survector was responding out of a feeling of being put down by the post he was referring to? When I read that post, I felt put down and it wasn't even directed at me. While Survector did write something directly critical of that post, Buckeye Fan's post did really fuel a lot of distress for me, so I'm wondering if it was simply that distress that Survector was expressing?
Is there anything along the lines of a "Please rephrase that" that can be applied to posts such as Buckeye Fan's, posts which are not directed at any one poster but are still capable of pushing a lot of very powerful buttons for other posters, including the sorts of "THIS is the answer, so if you're not doing it, you're in the wrong" messages that seem to be implied in them? Perhaps that would be reassuring to those of us with more permeable egos?
That's just a thought, because I feel for the distress Survector was expressing, and hate to see him come up against a PBC when he's looking for help.
Thank you for your time.
