Not sure why I'm getting into this at all. Like Dinah said, we have no idea what Doc Bob's politics are. He let several anti-war posts stand. It was the level of vitriol in jay's that was the trigger (probably, I'm guessing).
I'm not really even 'pro' or 'against' this block. I feel bad for Jay since I assumed he was genuinely trying to rephrase his thoughts to keep within guidelines, rather than deliberatly flouting the policy. In his warning post, I don't think Bob linked to the FAQ section, so I doubt Jay saw it. Perhaps Bob thought Jay intentionally did the thing the FAQ said was not allowed. I just assumed Jay tried and failed to rephrase it. I'm sad for the site that in a case like this, Bob doesn't do more educating and less blocking. It's probably too much to ask... but I still wish there could be a little more of the leader stepping in constructively, like in a therapy group.
Regardless, I still believe Bob's intent is to keep things safe for the majority, rather than to hurt people or take sides on politics.
