Yeah, IT DEPENDS on who's the ultimate arbiter of such things (dear Bob)
who's saying it to whom
who's doing the reading
if the swearing is directed at a particular person (as in - "Phil, you f***ing moron!"), etc.
Other thoughts:
is "frickin' " ok?
how 'bout "bleedin' " - it's a VERY strong cuss word in Britain...
what if I call myself a "shithead" for misunderstanding something? i.e., just swearing at myself?
how 'bout this: no more than one "fuck" word per message??? Can we all live with that? I know I can...
Let's come up with some alternate ways to swear, think hard guys... Replies welcome.

ps: BTW, Bob - when you do individual counseling, and you have a client who's really angry, and says a lot of F words in a session, what do you say to them? Just curious... I understand the differences between individual therapy and an on-line support situation...
