I'm sorry you felt unsupported. I also read you message, and IsoM's reply to Manda which seemed very personal and moving, and hopefully some support for both of you. I suppose I felt there wasnt anything particular to add. And, thinking about it, there's a part of me that thinks that we keep saying the same things to people who are desperate and suicidal, so an 'oldtimer' like you would know them already. I realise now that that isnt a logical move by me- of course, its more than the words, its the concern behind them at the time you need them which matters. Even if the words are repeating previous stuff.
I'm glad you posted again and said explicitly that you wanted more, and then got it.
Makes me wonder, is there an issue of quantity here ie people feel unsupported if they dont get several messages? Hadnt thought of that.
I also dont think we are a guaranteed service,like a 24 hour crisis hotline. Tho of course I hope that people do get the support that they need.
I cant comment on the newbies- I havent been keeping track properly.
If you want support, maybe say so and nearer the top of your message- sometimes we are just sounding off, and there is certainly an issue of sheer number of messages posted (I dont read most of them these days- dont have time).
