Dear Fi,
I agree. I'm bipolar II, and I maintain my balance in part by sticking to routine as much as possible, so that I have the strength and flexibility to deal with the stresses that I cannot avoid (such as in my work).
I also think, perhaps, we tend to underestimate the effect of 9/11 on all of us. Most of America is experiencing some level of post-traumatic shock, yet we forget to treat ourselves and others with the extra patience and care we would offer to someone who had experienced it more singularly.
Changes on the board -- appointing substitutes, creating new boards, defining civility more narrowly -- will stir up a lot of us. We need to take extra-good care of one another, especially now. We need to take extra-good care of Dr. Bob, too.
Thanks, Fi.
Best wishes,
Mark H.
