Since I don't want to 'hit' reply-not sure at this point who's it would be anyway, I thought I'd start a new one....
Instead of "where's the beef", it's "here's my beef":
Personally, I think any outright advertisement it rude, 'uncivil',(there, I finally get to use that word), and disrespectful to everyone that reads it. Not only is it irrelevant (There's one for paulb-sorry 'bout that BTW), but someone looking for support is taken away from part of what the board is for.
I think it would be rather frowned upon if Dr. Bob used the members' email addys and sent 'cyber-ads' to all of the members supporting his practice, or even just run though the boards...(picked you Dr Bob 'cuz you're a pdoc & don't take it personal..aren't ya happy for that..hehe), everyone seems pleased when he posts something supportive-and I DON'T mean being civil either.
The difference is Dr. Bob knows what he's talking about (I assume, I've never ACTUALLY seen the degrees or had a session) and doesn't blast everyone with the fact that he does. (at least not on the boards...)
What would people think if after the handshake (or whatever-for you dreamer..lol) the first thing that came out of his mouth was:
"YOU NEED PSYCHO-BABBLE!!! You just have to go there. It will take care of all your needs"...blah blah blah..BUT WAIT-if you go within the next 10 minutes, I'll through in Social Babble AND Tele-Babble too, and as an added bonus, You'll get Psycho Babble OPEN yours FREE to keep even if you decide not to remain in Babbleland. All of this is yours to keep just for visiting PYSCHO-BABBLE..
(Disclaimer: Please be civil, don't believe any inner voices, yes ET is an alien, no this is not the Mothership, and please be civil)
Sorry- I do think something needs to be done regarding that kind of thing. Personally I think ads that are just thrown in for the ad should be deleted-period.It's one thing to say I've taken this and you may want to check into it for yourself and just post a bunch of stuff that most people aren't going to read compeletely through. Those that do, are at a risk, if they believe it may help. People are taken for hundreds of thousands of dollars by scams, things they hope will work but don't-not necessarily a scam, but you buy it and can't use it, whatever....
That type of thing IMNSHO needs to be monitored a bit closer-one reason I don't go there but on a very rare occasion. That kind of thing, I wouldn't mind offering my help on...(if you call within the next 10 minutes...hope you caught that 800 number at the start...)
Just my 19.95's worth ( +4.95 shipping and handling)
