Pat,
> Rzip, what is the reason for this poll/test ?
Two main reasons:1) To add flavor/variety to PB site. Just trying something new and familiar to me.
I am a student, so I am used to test questions. So, it is the way that I feel comfortable in interacting with others. I mean I have to force myself to share my feelings (reveal myself as Shar puts it). However, to interact on a poll and to raise discussions afterward is familiar and comfortable to me. So, I thought that I would give this a try.2) To provide/contribute information. I was planning to cite sources along with the explanation of the statements (True or false)--in case, some of you were interested in the info., but doubt the validity of the statements.
I guess you are worried that I am going to post the stats of who knows what and stuff. The answer is NO. I am only planning to gather the poll stats as a satisfication for myself that someone actually voted at my poll :-) And then, I was just going to explain each statements and let the discussions take a life of their own. The poll is just for my own pleasure, in terms of interactions/feedbacks. I mean I still plan to post the explanations as a thread for whoever is interested. And of course, I am not going to mention anything about who voted what and to what degree and those sort of stat stuff. If there is one statement that is of statistical interest (like a majority of those who voted believe a certain myth to be true), I'll mention that as a highlight point. The bottom-line is that your contributions will be blind to the public.Does that answer your concerns?
I did it as a poll because it is more interactive than to merely start a thread on each of the statements. Like I said before, the thing that I treasure the most from PB is the on-line exchanges. I love feedbacks. Unfortunately, I do not have much free time to carry on the amount of back and forth e-mail exchanges that I would like to have. Besides, I tend to get obsessed with this if I am not careful because I like the safe/invisible interactions so much.
And I guess this poll idea is a mixture of revealing myself (the safe academic way, mixed with the "unsafe" personally revealing way).
Thanks for posting, and thereby giving me a chance to reply and address you concerns. I am just trying this and see whether it works for all of US (*Shar*). I said "us". :-)
