Observations, Questions Dr. Bob

Dr. Bob---

Re Statistics: I find the gender difference between PB/PSB posters interesting, if predictably stereotypical. PB/PSB boards certainly make clearcut distinctions between education/support intents; between objective/subjective expressions; and between specific/holistic views.

Normally, I abhor frames pages (for their visual limitations and logistical difficulties); but, I have a fantasy of a frames-based Babble with PB on the left, PSB on the right, both scrolling. Clicking on a post in either frame would display that post in the other frame; there would be a "Return to original display" button always present, and, perhaps, a "View only left/right frame" option. I envision this setup as helping to preserve Babble community unity, while maintaining the current subject division. I suspect a perceived lack of time to scan 2 or more boards may be partly responsible for this largely either/or posting phenomenon. Encouraging posters to write succinct, relevant subject lines (even on existing threads) and presenting both boards on the same page may help readers ID topics or posters of interest more quickly.

Although I have had mixed feelings re earlier PB "splits" and bemoan the relative lack of crossover posters, PBA makes great sense to me. Thanks for the welcome addition!

Re Babble Tips: AndrewB and JohnL have a remarkable amount of info on and insight into non-FDA-approved meds (not gathered elsewhere, that I know of). Would you have any objections to an eGroup folder on that topic? I thought that I'd better check in with you before importuning either/or both of them to create such a collection. If neither of them has the time or inclination to assemble one, what would you think about my trying to do so (assuming they had no objection)?

The other topic I'm interested in for Babble Tips is augmentation strategies. There are so many permutations and combinations, though, that it would have to be an ongoing project. I would organize it into categories (i.e., SRIs+ Stimulants, SRIs+Anticonvulsants, SRIs+Anxiolytics, etc. Any thoughts, caveats, suggestions, etc.? I will endeavor to begin a folder on one of these topics, or another of your choosing, before the end of this month.

Thanks for all your hard work----medlib
