i dont think its everywhere. right now, it seems to be in the US...probably in part because benzodiazepine prescribing has gotten kind of out of hand, anyway, and also because of people dying from opioid+benzodiazepine combinations, plus...
pills come into and then fall out of favor. back in the day, the Rx uppers were popular, then the DEA cracked down, now they're popular again. happens, sadly enough.
the rational approach would be to minimize new prescriptions and maintain people already on treatment. that's kind of...assuming psych docs and doctors in general will be rational about the whole thing, which is kind of doubtful.
