Just make sure to take the probiotic far away from the Doxy. A good schedule is to take the meds during the day and then take the probiotic before bed.

My doctor told me that anything less than 100billion in probiotics is not going to be enough. I take 80billion every night and it does a good job. Realistically any amount is better than none.

Do you like sauerkraut? If so eat it often. It is very friendly at increasing probiotic levels. They love it. Anything fermented actually is good. Kefir for example is a great probiotic drink.

When the levels of Doxy in the blood spike high rapidly, that is where it is most effective. You can accomplish that by taking both doses at the same time. 200mg all at once. When I was on it, I took 200mg twice a day and sometimes 400mg once a day. That massive spike in the blood level is a good way to increase its effectiveness against stubborn bacteria.

In other words, a single large dose of Doxy is more effective than 2 divided doses. This is a powerful trick that LLMDs employ.

Another trick that works well is to "pulse" the Doxy. In other words, take it for a few days and then skip a day or two. Maybe 5 days on and 1 day off, 5 days on and 2 days off, 4 days on and 2 days off, anything similar. Many naturopaths and LLMDs practice the pulsing doses because it works. You can generate some serious Herxheimer reactions this way. Which is bad because you will feel bad - but you know that - but it's also really good because after you get past the Herxheimer you are on greener grass. Over and over. Persistence. Patience. The bacteria are tough. You have to be tougher.

You won't lose anything on the days off. The bacteria grow and multiply very slowly.

Here's how pulsing works. The bacteria are not dumb - they can sense danger. So when we take antibiotics they go into defense mode to protect themselves. They do that by hiding out in places where the blood, immune system and meds can't reach them very easily - cartilage, glands, bones. As soon as the danger passes, they come out of hiding and resume normal life.

The bacteria can also morph into different forms such as the cystic form, which is immune to Doxy. So on our days off, they switch back to the normal form where they are vulnerable to Doxy. And so when you start up again - especially with a high dose - you kill a bunch of them before they can go into hiding or morph. You do this over and over sort of like peeling an onion.

The survivors will make back to hiding. The next time you take a couple days off, they will come out of hiding. And that is when you nuke them again.

:-)
