I was on Marplan for 7yrs and am currently just starting Parnate. I had an issue w high blood pressure on Marplan which I later found out was due to taking it w lithum (I guess some people can do it but it caused a reaction in me). Never once was I concerned about my pulse. Don't think I ever paid any attention to it tbh but my bp got yo 210/110 on a few occasions! (And I'm in.my 30s 6' 200lbs).
If you have access to a cuff it's for blood pressure. That's the important part. That can mess you up. Slightly elevated pulse prob happens all the time starting things. Would you have checked it if the maoihypertensive crisis wasn't. Possibility? Prob not right unless you felt chest pressure. I'd try not to obsess over numbers like that. These meds take time to settle in.....whats released and then the changes that come from that to balance everything.
I know what you mean about a bit spacey/stoned though. Been going through that myself (one week on Parnate today after a week off of Marplan). Overall mood is really good but difficult to stay on one task at times I know it'll settle in.....
If your pulse is a real concern perhaps propranolol would be an option? You may just be anxious about it. Pretty sure a beta blocker like propranolol would bring your pulse down. Or maybe some gym time on the bike would help after.....
