Correction:Buspirone is not an antagonist of 5-HT1a receptors. It is 5-HT1a partial agonist.
Corrected text:
I think azapirones include Buspar (buspirone). Buspar does at least three things. It blocks dopamine D2 and D3 receptors as well as acting as a partial agonist of serotonin 5-HT1a receptors. In addition, its major metabolite is a norepineprine alpha-2 receptor blocker, which increases norepinephrine. Viibryd (vilazodone) might be an interesting drug to explore. It is a serotonin 5-HT reuptake inhibitor and 5-HT1a receptor blocker. By the way, Abilify, Saphris, and Latuda all block this receptor too, but without the 5-HT reuptake inhibition.
