In reply to Anyone's taking Agomelatine (Valdoxan)?, posted by Hana on September 14, 2016, at 5:52:18
I took agomelatine for a few months seven years ago. It didn't help my depression, but it was a good knockout pill. I'd take it at bedtime and quickly fall asleep and wake up about four or five hours later. I had pretty bad insomnia at the time, so this was nice. I belonged to a Google group that was for agomelatine users. Some of them found agomelatine to be a very effective antidepressant, it didn't do much for others, and it made some people feel worse. So it was about like any other antidepressant as far as efficacy goes, going by the reports I read.
But it didn't cause me to have any unpleasant side effects, and when I quit taking it cold turkey, I didn't suffer any withdrawal symptoms.
I understand your frustration. But there are some promising treatments for depression that will be available in the next few years, such as this one:

And I imagine that there are quite a few currently available treatments that you haven't tried yet.
