It definitely got me out of a depression to the point where I felt normal. I remember when I started it I got to a low dose of 20mg and was satisfied enough to not go higher which was unusual for me. I stopped taking it for a few months early in 2015 when I though my insurance was going to stop covering it (per a letter). I eventually went back on it due to depression returning and getting it approved and now I'm using 50mg (60mg is max). It definitely helps.
Prozac was one of the other meds I did have success w/ in the past btw. Since Prozac has a very long half life (I think it's like a week?). You may be better off trying something else w/ a shorter half life first. You're supposed to do a washout when switching from SSRI to MAOI of 14days but that might be longer w/ a med like Prozac that stays around for so long.
Good luck if you give it a try.
