This drug is a few years away - maybe sooner if the FDA would fast-track it.
For depression, hydroxynorketamine (HNK) might be developed. It is a metabolite of ketamine that can be taken orally, and does not produce dissociative or psychotic reactions.

Personally, I would like something that more directly boosts levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). People with bipolar disorder seem to have low levels of this natural substance. Resveratrol might help. I don't know.
