I seem to recall reading that long term Effexor (and Anafranil, I think) can cause TD. I don't think its near as common as with AP/AAP drugs or amoxapine.

I don't think I've read about it with Wellbutrin, so I think its some kinda serotonin thing. I read this one psychopharmacologist...he said that taking an SSRI is sort of like taking one of the old school "goof balls," you know, the combo of stimulant and antidepressant.

The example he used was Prozac. With Prozac, its like Ritalin+Thorazine in one capsule, but you don't know the proportions of each. Also, dosage matters, other meds have an impact, and there's differences between individuals, too.

I need an AD, at least right now. I probably should be on something like Cymbalta or Effexor, but...high dose (400mgs) wellbutrin SR does a good enough job (I think...).

I'm not really anti-meds or whatever...I just wish docs would be more open about what the risks are and start assessing people for TD and such. I developed tics on Abilify and my shrink didn't do a damn thing. Ridiculous. That was before Orthomolecular...

Anyway, yeah...Effexor, the ssri drugs, I think some TCAs can cause TD over the long haul.
