> I've had derealisation a good part of my life and have learned to live with it. Now this is something new that seems to have started when I took Azithromycin and Norfloxacin about a year ago for a minor infection. I feel like a stranger in my own body and the world has changed. Almost forget where I am. I'm afraid to do anything or go anywhere alone for fear that I may get lost. Now I have strong distrust of all medicines.

Who knows what perturbations in your bacterial balance the antibiotics produced. Taking probiotics is certainly a logic thought. I just don't know whether or not they change the body's flora anywhere else but in the GI tract. There are actually more bacteria cells in the body than there are body cells (not an appetizing thought), many of which are important for one's health. This is a stretch, but perhaps you now have a chronic Candida albicans (yeast) infection. I am not a big believer that it can cause psychiatric symptoms, but there are many who do.Is your anxiety level elevated now compared to before? High levels of anxiety - especially when combined with anhedonia - can cause or exacerbate derealization / depersonalization.
