So once again i had an MD mock the use of Metformin in weight gain plagued psychiatric patients...
He said it was tough on the kidneys. Then he proceeded to say that it wasnt effective against weight gain, it only was effective for diabetic obesity.
When i confronted him with opposing evidence, he brought the classic "who is the doctor here" BS.
He went on to say, that if i ruined myself with Metformin, he wouldnt care at which point it was clear to me i needed to change doctors. I have somebody else who gladly prescribes it to me and even talks to my health insurance so they pay the offlabel use. He says Metformin increases compliance and therefore i need to get it.
From what i have heard Metformin is only tough on the kidney if its already compromised.
Im pretty sure its BS and im totally fine, but should i get my kidney checked and my blood glucose level?
I just wanna make sure and i dont want my new Dr get in trouble.
