In reply to Marplan or Nardil for severe lifelong depession, posted by stargazer2 on November 12, 2013, at 11:36:24
Hi.
> For those of you that have taken MAOs for your depression, I am curious if one or the other worked better for you. I know the original Nardil was the bomb and I too went into a major setback when it was reformulated in 2003. I just became aware that Nardil has a generic version now so I'm interested in those that have tried this also.
For me, Marplan was the least effective of the irreversible MAOIs. (Reversibles were even less effective for me). Autonomic side effects are reduced with Marplan compared to Nardil. Although they exist, I rarely hear an account of someone doing better on Marplan than on Nardil. One interesting strategy to treat Nardil poop-out is to discontinue it for 3 months and then restart it.
Divorces can be sad and emotionally tumultuous, even when the divorce is acknowledged as being the best course of action by both parties. I am sorry for your loss.
