I think that it is the specificity (rather than selectivity) for the serotonin 5-HT2c receptor that is what is claimed to be the novel property of this drug. It shouldn't affect other 5-HT receptors at all. Is it possible that antagonism of other serotonin receptors counter the antidepressant effects of 5-HT2c antagonism?
