200 mg/day is the "sweet-spot" for dosing Lamictal when treating depression - unipolar or bipolar. I'm taking 300 mg/day. I respond quite a bit better at that dosage than I do at 200 mg/day. My case seems to be that of chronic bipolar depression.
Unless you are experiencing intolerable side effects, it makes no sense not to try 200 mg/day (100 mg b.i.d.). You might experience some memory or cognitive impairments upon dosage increase. This may or may not resolve with continued treatment. You won't know unless you try.
