Hey there!
I am new here and let me first tell that i am very happy i have discovered this board with a wealth of information. The information provided by members of the board was very insightful.
I am 29 and i have been diagnosed with ADHD a year ago. Started with Strattera and worked up to about 80mg very slowly, but it didn't do for me nothing more than sexual dysfunction and a dull state of mind. Then i moved to Adderall but it pooped out very quickly. Maybe after a few weeks or so.
I did a break for about a few weeks and started memantine. Now i am on 40mg of Memantine per day and i almost can't feel the stimulant anymore again :( Well, i do feel decreased appetite, jaw clenching, and maybe it does help to concentrate a little bit better. But it is nothing compared to how i felt the first few days.
I also tried Aricept 5mg a day for a month (based on reports by the guy named Utopizen from this board), but aside from GI side effects and headache for the first few days i didn't get a boost from this med.
So i am back at looking for an anti poop-out stack. I've read a few reports that Lamictal (by indirectly antagonizing NMDA receptors) and Topamax (being gabaergic) may help.
Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of these meds against tolerance to stimulants?
