Even though I don't have SAD, I bought a blue light device several years ago, hoping it would improve my insomnia by resetting my circadian rhythms. I can't say it helped. But I did notice that if I used it too long, it would make me feel tired. Not sleepy tired, but just gross, worn out tired. But a lot of people find light therapy energizing.
