At least the benzos weren't this bad. If you read animal studies, zyprexa causes just as much dopamine 2 receptor upregulation as haloperidol. That means supersensitivity psychosis and, eventually, TD. Breggin thinks the serotonin effects of atypicals help mask TD. I have no idea.
Also, giving these drugs to kids--"bipolar," autistic, sometimes ADHD/ADD--bothers me. They're also commonly prescribed in prison and jails. I know that a lot of our mentally ill end up in correctional facilities (been in jail myself--thank God that was also taken care of), but I think sometimes people just get diagnosed and tranquilized when they start causing mischief.
