For phillipa - Eczema

Posted by jono_in_adelaide on July 30, 2012, at 19:54:09

How are you going Phillips?

i thought I'd detail what I said about eczema earlier in an easier to read way:

1. In the shower, use Cetaphil cleasing lotion on the parts where excema bothers you, instead of soap..... it isnt drying or iritating.

2. After showering, apply a bland moisturising cream, Eucerin, Cetaphil Cream or Vanicream. Also apply this at bedtime, twice a day, every day.

3. Ask your doctor for a script for betametasone 0.1% cream, this is a good steroid, very effective and dirt cheap. Some of the newer steroids can run to $100 a tube, this one id 5-10 dollars. During accute flairs, use it three times a day, as things improve redice it to twice a day, then once a day. If things go exdeptionaly well, you might be able to have periods where you use no steroid, just a moisturiser

In accute flares, Benadryl (or the generic) can help the itch, as can cold packs (an inc pack for example)
