Use of Lyrica to augment an anti-depressant for ch

Posted by schleprock on June 23, 2012, at 18:48:31

My first seventeen years on nortriptyline were great, but my anxiety has gotten out of control over the past 3 years. Since that time, I've been supplementing off-and-on with clonazapam (which I'm back on - .5 mg) and atenolol (which I'll probably get back on tonight - 12.5 mg) current dose of nortriptyline is 150mg.

Things have gotten really bad over the past couple of months, and I've been starting to consider other options suggested to me by my pdoc. Lyrica seems the most promising (he also mentioned buspar and neurontin).

So I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who has used Lyrica to augment a tricyclic (or other antidepressent) with Lyrica to treat anxiety to compensate their waning potency. I'd want to start at a very small dose if I went ahead, but not so small a dose as to not feel any effect. Any suggestions considering what I'm already taking? Varying the doses of my current meds hasn't really done much, so it might be time to ad something new.

(I should probably add that I had a very bad experience when a previous pdoc had added lithium to my nortriptyline dosage, so I am excessively cautious when it comes to changes in medicine.)
