The key to keeping my crippling depression and anxiety at bay is an intense exercise program where I'm required to focus all of myself into the activity (physical, mental and emotional) to stay competitive with my training group. The less intense forms of exercise (i.e. walking, yoga, etc.) is good but not as effective as endurance exercise, I've found.
I'm nowhere near 100 percent, but living moments where I can truly connect with my precious child in a real way...sharing in her joys and victories, and supporting her in disappointments is worth everything to me. And I'm very grateful to have found something which allows me to be there for her and guide her through life. I know that exercise is not the answer for everyone but it's been a godsend for my mental and physical well being.
