In reply to Prazosin causing/worsening depression?, posted by uncouth on April 10, 2012, at 14:52:29
Unless you have made some other significant change to account for the depression, there really is no other likely culprit than prazosin, right? What else changed? I mean, as an outsider lookiing in, it appears to me prazosin is the obvious logical problem because it was the only thing that changed.
Any and all meds can cause depression, including ones where that is not stated in writing and including ones that are supposed to help depression.
And since it isn't good for your insomnia, the next logical step in my mind would be to stop it and see if you return to your normal baseline in 3 or 4 days. My guess the prazosin depression will be gone by then, probably sooner.
I tried Flomax a couple times, for prostate. Oh my word. Much worse depression. And a completely wired physical and mental anxiety thing. It is only supposed to block certain NE related receptors concentrated in the prostate and bladder, but apparently is not as selective as they would like to claim it is. Severe psychological effects from this supposedly non-psychological med. Just one of many examples.
