anxiety attacks: what can be causing this?

Posted by raisinb on February 10, 2012, at 13:04:58

So, I was dx'd BP 2 in the fall. I was on Lithium for a few months but hated it, so my pdoc switched me to Trileptal. I'm currently on Zoloft 75 mg, Trileptal 900 (it was 600, but was raised to 900 a few days ago, as my blood levels were low), and 2 mg Xanax to sleep.

For the last few weeks, I've been having intense waves of anxiety/agitation. My chest gets tight, I can't read, concentrate, have trouble sitting still, feel like my blood is filled with acid.

I feel as if it is med-related, as I can't remember having anything that feels just this way before (though I may be wrong). I am not anxious *about* anything, it just feels like something rises up in me.

Taking a Seroquel works, but is incredibly sedating, so I am trying not to. Taking a Xanax also works, but is relatively sedating--I yawn all the time.

What does this sound like? Is it mania/mixed or anxiety alone? Can it be traced to any meds I am on, or lack thereof?
