I have taken Lexapro quite often & recently and for me it's #1 in the SSRIs, to which I'm quite sensitive. Minimum side-effects for maximum efficiency, IMHO. I need 20 mg/day to get benefit from it; one pdoc tried to take me up to 60 mg, but I quickly got overwhelming anxiety at higher doses. At 20 mg/day, just about zero side-effects except the inevitable sexual ones.

I agree it can be levelling to the point of anhedonia. I'm now on Cymbalta (SNRI) which works much better for me. However, Cymbalta isn't covered by my drug plan, so I rely on free samples from my pdoc; I keep Lexapro/Cipralex around for emergencies if I run out of Cymbalta. BTW, never had any problem switching between the two with just a few days overlap.
