OK, here's the thing: I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think that stimulants are one of those medications you can do without. I don't mean b/c of your "addiction" or whatever, I'm just saying--lots of modern countries use stimulants less than the US, and they seem to be doing just fine. Maybe its for the best.
I agree with another poster about testing. They're just trying to match up your skills, education, experience, and personality with something that will work for you. Its not about sending you over to SS Disability, which is hard to get anyway (trust me, I have a psychotic mood disorder and I'm officially "not disabled").
Things are looking up. Do you have friends you can live with? That would help drive down the cost of housing.
I think you should ditch your shrink. Before you do, get her to taper you off some of your meds and maybe reduce the doses of others. She'll probably go for it. Then you can switch to a new shrink, who will probably see that you're not a stupid addict and proceed to treat you better, although I doubt (HIGHLY doubt) you're going to get any schedule II stimulants. Let the dream die man; let it die.
Good luck!
