Sick and tired of most of the responses here about social phobia or social anxiety... relating to some kind of ''personality disorder'' or just something you can snap the hell out of.
No, for me I can't just snap my darn fingers thanks. If you cant snap out of clinical depression then you cannot snap out of serious social anxiety. I used to be more social when I was younger. Before I got poisoned by vitamin A overdose thanks to an ignorant doctor. It's extremely difficult for me to be social with people and it also correlates often to how good or bad my depression is as well.
I helped out at a friend's store for the past 4 days and it involved a lot of talking but it was business oriented. Yet with this so called ''practice'' and ahem... ''human interaction'' I am not any better after these 4 days at all. I have almost nothing to say to people including the few friends I have and constantly find it difficult to engage in any conversation.
So yes... for many... medication is the only answer.
