If the risperidone is responsible, reducing the dose should help. Obviously, I do not know whether this would be possible, you would have to discuss that with your psychiatrist. Other antipsychotics which have less effect on BP are available.

To be honest, I think your GP is probably correct that it's not serious. Nevertheless, if you are still very concerned, having some further tests might help to put your mind at rest. The doctor might do some blood tests (eg. blood counts, thyroid function etc.) and send you for a chest Xray. If there was any sign of an enlarged heart on the chest Xray, you would need to have an echocardiogram.
