I think it depends how bad the introversion is. If they have no friends and never leave the house, then something must be done. Probably some kind of exposure therapy or something.
I really wouldn't be looking to a drug to fix this problem. It might be good to find someone in your family or a friend who is extroverted and see what they do and see if you can incorporate it into your life. I think a lot of introversion comes from fear of not knowing what to say and how people will react.
