Havae you tried norepinephrine based ADs? Such as Savella, Nortriptyline? Maybe Cymbalta, but it's heavier on serotonin.
I don't want to take the time to go into long explanations why, but when klonopin doesn't hit a bullseye, it points the way to out-of-whack cortisol. The feedback loop of those meds will put the brakes on, at the right dose. Most people take too much.
Naturals, have you tried the things your body actually needs? No one ever had a benzo deficiency. Magnesium? Glycine? Gaba? Combo of all three? Passionflower? Lemon Balm? Skullcap?
I remember someone here that was on super high dose klonopin and unresponsive anxiety who got tremendous improvement on lithium instead.
I guess my point is...when we get in a small box of thinking "anxiety = benzos", or worse, what docs do a lot "anxiety = ssris", we are excluding other major causes of anxiety that benzos or ssris will only slightly touch.
