> 49er I'm the google queen I think I saw those two studies and saw the prune one last night. Good laxative also. When you read all the studies carefully and look for keywords and I've googled bioidentical hormones and have the written book of the doc I see here. It says may help to prevent. But what if you already have it and it's pretty bad? That orthopedic doc I saw scared me when he said he hoped he wasn't on call the night I need surgery and he has to wire me up and then I'm in a wheelchair. So far the internist hasn't even called with is dexa results. My last one was done at the osteoporisis and arthritis Center. It's googleable. Dr Kipnis is the one I saw. Thanks for taking an interest. Right now on 1500mg of calcium and vita D3 and magnesium. The prunes are yet to come. Love Phillipa
Phillipa,
See this article about a study that will determine if prunes can reverse bone loss.

"Meanwhile, hopes are high for those plums. In a 2004 study he led while at Oklahoma State University, Arjmandi found that a diet supplemented with dried plums produced significant restoration of bone mass in female rats whose ovaries had been surgically removed."
Of course. rat studies don't always translate to human ones but I thought it was interesting.
Don't let that doctor scare you. Take the time to make the decision that is right for you.
