In reply to Lyrica for GAD, posted by adamfrancis on October 3, 2009, at 10:28:28
> Depression and GAD for last 15yrs. Wellbutrin manages depression OK. Tried 4-5 SSRIs and SNRIs but too many side effects. Dr prescribed Lyrica 50mg 2x/day. Bumped to 75 2x/day after three weeks. Been at 75 2x for three weeks. no real relief, but from what I have been reading, this is really a low dose with 300-400 more likely to be effective. Seems like we should increase and esculate faster than we have? I do not think I am having any side effects. If I am they are not significant. Comments?
I couldn't tolerate Lyrica because of sedation
(given for neuropathic pain). You are lucky you do- it's supposed to be a good drug!
Here is the product monograph http://emc.medicines.org.uk/document.aspx?documentId=14651#INDICATIONSIt says for GAD- 150 to 600 mg per day given as two or three divided doses.
Titration Depending on tolerability " ......the dosage may be increased to 300 mg per day after 1 week. Following an additional week the dosage may be increased to 450 mg per day. The maximum dosage of 600 mg per day may be achieved after an additional week."Hope that helps
