My last trial of despiramine was a bomb - it didn't really do much of anything (for my ADD, which it usually works great on).
I thought I would try it again, but I couldn't find my bottle of it. I came across an older bottle, expired by 1 year. So I took some.WHAM! It works. WTF.
Ok, one thing I noticed, everytime I get desipramine, the pills look different for the same mg dose. I never paid attention to the mfg'er before, but I made note after getting different looking pills.
The pills that didn't work for me were made by... Sandoz/Geneva Pharma. The older ones that did work for me were made by... EON Labs.
Did a little googling around - guess what else Sandoz makes - that crappy generic wellbutrin that is well known not to work.
Sadly, I see Sandoz has bought EON. Sandoz also has a big plant in India, though I don't know if the pills they sell in the US are made there - I only did cursory digging.
The tinfoil hat boy in me wonders if Sandoz is getting payola from the other pharmas to make substandard crap. Or more likely they are just incompetent or cutting corners.
I'm going to ask my doc for an rx of real-deal Aventis Norpramin (hopefully it is still made).
