Hi Mattias, I'm a lurker, but fear not, I have posted on this board in times of need just like everyone else. I was especially interested to see your post and thought, if it's ok, we could chime in on a couple of issues about the nightsweats. I just started efexor six and a half weeks ago (just one 'f' here) and am on 225mg since along with bupropion 150 and clonazepam 2mg

Right now I am waking up probably somewhere in the region of 4 times a night, usually thrown out of some vivid dream, waking suddenly to the abject horror of soaking wet sheets and duvet. I would reach out to feel my flesh of my lower back, like an aquaslide. Chest, hairline and arms are also affected (and probably legs too if i think about it) So there's pretty much not an area left un. Sleep on a towel if you haven't already and keep another handy for drying off in the night. Someone mentioned 'sweat wicking' clothes working for their girlfriend on effexor- the kind common to athletics, worth a go.

In the UK at least, you can be prescribed an aluminium/alcohol roll on deodorant for excessive sweating of hands, feet or armpits. However if you do put it all over it does seem to have any adverse effect.

nb)The combination of this deodorant stick and sweat formed a weird chemical reaction: it made my bedclothes go from freshly washed to smelly in a night. The odour which can only be described as musty pig pervades the air and generally creates some bad vibes.

Third option besides buying the best earplugs made (pillowsoft) is getting an alpha agonist catapress (clonidine?) prescibed from your family doc. They should just check your blood pressure to confirm you're not at risk of any orthostatic hypotension on the drug >>

I might be ready to give Effexor a second try. But I remember last time I took I had extremely vivid dreams and always woke up soaked in sweat, very unpleasant. Anyone experienced this? If so, will it wear off with time or are there any tricks to avoid it?
