There is no interaction potential with MAOIs, because the fish oil is an extract of the whole fish. I do not believe whole sardines should present a risk, in any case. Whole anchovies, or anchovy paste, I can understand a possible risk is involved, because they're air cured. But you don't have much of a dose there, unless you're rather atypical on the anchovy thing. Dose makes the poison. But we're not considering whole anchovies, so that's not an issue.
Sardine or anchovy oil is generally preferable to e.g. salmon or tuna oil, because they're lower on the food chain. Less potential for environmental contaminants, but those should be virtually eliminated by proper processing, anyway. And less impact on the ecosystem, too.
