A talented therapist goes a long way to helping you along the journey.
I bumped into my therapist of 10 years ago the other day at WalMart. I told him he was the most amazing man I had ever known.
I told him our therapy did not provide a cure, and he said therapy does not cure. But I said he was like an excellent coach, your trainer in the corner of a boxing ring, your cheerleading squad. They can give you deep wisdom into things you never thought of. They can fill your gas tank at each visit. You can leave the office with enough strength to get through another week of waiting for a med to kick in or whatever. You can be given reasons to feel very good about yourself and pat yourself on the back, reasons you never would have thought of yourself. They dish out generous portions of hope and understanding.
Of course, if a therapist isn't accomplishing those things, they aren't the talented one you want.
