I have Social Anxiety Disorder... sort of. I'm actually great in "structured" social situations, like giving a speech in front of a bunch of people or reading a poem etc, but I'm ridiculously, INSANELY self conscious when just "chilling" or whatever with other people. My mind races as I try to think of things to say to keep the awkwardness at bay. It's horrible and has led me to go into deep deep depression. I was initially opposed to medication, and was doing some hardcore exposure therapy on my own (I mean HARDCORE, singing publicly in the mall etc.) but even though that's given me massive relief IN THAT MOMENT the anxiety always comes back like a m*th*rf*ck*ng cockroach.
So... Tell me about Nardil.
I've heard great things about this medication...
Few questions:
1) I've heard it causes crazy side-effects, like sexual disfunction etc. Do these go away after a while? I could live with insomnia... but not being able to get it up... not sure ;)
2) Also heard it got reformulated in 2003 and is not as good now. Is this true? Any way to buy the "original"?
3) How quickly does it take effect? Is it like the SSRIs that take 6-8 weeks?
4) What do I need to do to get a prescription? Is it over the counter?
5) Would I be able to get off it eventually and stay SAD-free? (my idea would be to, while I'm on it, gather as many positive experiences as possible to kind of reform my personality)
6) What are the weird diet things I've heard mentioned? Thanks all!
