If you treated the wound it should be fine. Did you rub her or his belly too friskily? They get defensive about that area.
Have you heard about warnings that pregnant women should not handle cat feces?
Research is showing that Toxoplasma gondii parasite, one that cats get from eating, say, infected mice, or by transmission in the womb from the mother, is implicated in schizophrenia. Studies have shown that the presence of antibodies to this parasite are elevated in poeple with schizophrenia, and that there is a correlation between the parasite and severity of symptoms.
Most researchers think that the exposure is prenatal--a pregnant woman is exposed by handling cat feces, and then passes the infection to her fetus, the event of which affects the child's developing brain.
So I wouldn't worry about your cat biting you, but I myself take measures just in case: I wear plastic gloves when I clean the litter, I change it every week so that the gondii can't survive (I don't know if my cats have it or not, but many do), and I don't let them lick my mouth. I have a great, loving relationship with them, and would never give them up.
E. Fuller Torrey, who proposed over 30 years ago that viruses and parasites are implicated in schizophrenia, still has cats and loves them. So there you go!
> Also wanted to ask,can a cat bite infect someone with these types of infections?A few years back our cat about 7 months old at the time bit me real hard(I still love him).----And are herbs like regular Cats Claw, samento etc. a waste of time?
