I've taken nearly everything on the market for depression and anxiety (social anxiety to be specific) - SSRIs, tricyclics, MAOIs, SNRIs - you name it.
I always settle on Luvox - seems to have the only acceptable balance of effectiveness and sex side-effects that I can just barely tolerate.
Just had my testosterone checked since I've never checked that before on a hunch that maybe SSRIs do lower total testosterone. It was 318 (total count). My urologist says that is in the normal range of 240 - 950. He said my low libido is most likely related to the SSRI. NO SH**, DOC. That's why you make the big bucks. He considered testosterone in the 100s to be a low count and said that replacement therapy (e.g., androgel) probably wouldn't do much. Being the socially anxious guy I am I was like "well, okay, doc, thanks for your time" and didn't ask too many questions.
You guys have any thoughts on this? Testosterone of 318 when the range is 240 - 950 seems to be on the low end to me but, hey, I don't have an M.D.
