gabapentin - a possible anti-anxiety agent?

Posted by Neal on February 22, 2009, at 21:16:10

gabapentin, or Neurontin is an interesting agent. Gabapentin's listed use is to help control seizures in adults and children (3 years of age and older). It is also used to relieve nerve pain associated with shingles (herpes zoster) infection in adults.

I've taken it for years, although not for the above. It seems to have mood altering effects. For shorthand, I'll say 300mg is like having a beer, (I'm 6'2"), but without any hangover . Since it also affects or works in the gabba receptors, it has some anti-anxiety effects, as I've noticed.
