I guess that's the unfortunate side of new antidepressants - nobody really knows the 'possible' maximum dose, although they do know the 'safe' maximum dose - in this case 100mg.
I remember my psychiatrist telling me a while back that it's not uncommon for new drugs to be released with maximum recommended dosages, only for these recommended dosages to be raised higher and higher over the following years as more and more is understood about the drug.
