If the Lithium giving you such awful side-effects, you may try other alternative that is more likely one of Anti-Psycho.meds. such as Zyprexa, Seroquel and others, if you have Bipolar, either BP I or II.
For me, there is NO significant side-effects by taking Lithium, 600 mg. divided in two, except stomach-upsets once awhile, for that I need to be careful not to eat spicy or tomoto/acid-related foods.
For me, Zyprexa 5 mg. before the bed along with Lithium and Trazodone is practically 'life-saver' on which I've been for quite a long time, close to 8 years now.
I've never been on other meds. for Bipolar II except the Lithium and Zyprexa along with other two meds., Trazodone and Wellbutrin. On this combo., my Bipolar II is pretty much in remission, unless unexpected events happen, such as Job-related issues and some of my hobby-related incidents, such as eBay and the like.
