Adderall seems to take a big hit out of social phobia in my case. However, it's only a quick fix for that and sometimes I wonder if its just a false sense of confidence. However, Adderall runs through my system too fast and as you have to take more of it to compensate that, you start edging toward hypomanic like states. Emsam patch, selegiline, helped me with social problems, because that also too, coverts to L-Amphetamine in the system, although not a lot, but it does build up over time as it's and MAOI, allowing for similar effects. Concerta does not offer any further improvements with social difficulties, but it 'feels' more 'normal' in my system. exp at 108 mg/day (where I actually feel a therapeutic response at that dose, it wakes me up) As I also wake up, due to the hypersomnia during the day, I tend to be more social as my other meds like Strattera, Depakote, Lamicatal, and Zoloft seems to reallly normalize social difficulties over a long term consistent time frame than lets say-Adderall. Because with Adderall the social phobia becomes 'bi-polar' like, because the improvements only last 2-4 hours a dose, then I become avoident or 'wigged' out if I have too much Adderall built up in the brain. For those who can be on an MAOI, give Emsam a try (its expensive), it will take a few weeks for the Selegiline to build up and the L-Amphetamine, but it may worth a try for those with Dopamine dependent social phobia, with out having to slam short-term stimulants to try to tackle a long acting disorder like social anxiety, phobia, or avoidant personality. Like mentioned stimulants are most effect at treat short-term attention, motivation, impulsivity issues. --hope that helps, Jake
