> this is the combo that i wanted, but i can't afford abilify. i don't have insurance, but i do have a discount drug card & even using that it was just over $400 for a month's supply of the 10mg at my local superstore chain! ridiculous! how much have you been paying for the abilify, if you don't mind me asking...?
Have you looked into the manufacturer's Patient Assistance Program or Pharmacy Assistance Program or some name like that (may also have the word Access in it)? The programs are meant for people who can't afford the meds. In my opinion, these programs offer a few crumbs for the unrich, which helps Big Pharma "justify" their exorbitant prices with a straight face.
As I understand it, usually you fill out a form w/ your personal financial info on it (yes, it's embarrassing) and have to have the prescribing dr's cooperation to sign it and provide the Rx, and if the drug maker approves you, they mail the med to your dr's office, a staff member calls you, and you pick it up at the dr's reception area.
At least that's how I get one of my meds (not Abilify). I've only gotten it once though, and they provided a 90 or 100 day supply. I think I will need to repeat the process every 90 or 100 days that I'm on it. They can be slow about it (like maybe three weeks?), so beg for samples in the meantime (if you can bear it).
As a note to readers with insurance: I currently do have insurance (kindly pd for by Mom, I can't afford it), and it does have pharmacy coverage, but my co-pay really was too expensive for me, and I wrote that honestly on the application. Cases like mine are kind of a gray area the manufacturer's don't like to discuss in public, I think, but if you apply there is a chance of approval. The chance of approval is higher if you don't have insurance, or don't have Rx coverage, tho.
Abilify gave me akathisia, (curses I say!), otherwise I really would prefer an energizing neuroleptic. Good luck!
