Parnate: Orthostatic hypotension PLUS hypertension

Posted by satsumas on August 29, 2008, at 20:25:06

Hi, I just switched from Nardil 90 to parnate 40 (one day switchover) last week. I'm getting pretty severe orthostatic hypotension (BP drops to as low as 80/50, stays there for a few minutes...went as low as 60/40) ALONG with hypertension (not associated with eating anything funny...cream cheese is OK right?). I'm a half pack a day smoker, quitting soon, but after sitting for a while (say an hour) it gets up to 150/90, sometimes 160. Didn't have this trouble with nardil or any meds before, my baseline preMAOI is around 130-135.

If this continues I'll call my Dr. next week but i'm curious if there are any experiences of this effect (especially orthostatic hypotension) going away or reducing in effect as the body adjusts to Parnate. If so, how long does it take?
